Fitz [they-them]

Fitz is a white, queer, non-binary, able-bodied, clinical social worker, sex and gender therapist, and educator in Ypsilanti, MI. Fitz approaches their work from an anti-oppressive, multicultural feminist lens that centers transformative justice principles and aims to support sexually marginalized folks in exploring affirming, embodied, liberation centered experiences of pleasure and sexual health.  In addition to clinical work, Fitz is passionate about collaborating with like-minded colleagues to develop continuing education workshops for mental health and healthcare professionals with the hope of increasing access to affirming care for marginalized populations.

Behind the scenes, Fitz can be found making messes and (hopefully) delicious treats in the kitchen, processing stress through daily movement, laughing with friends and chosen family,  covered in dirt in their garden, or herding cats in their backyard. They are the pack leader to two furkids, Marshall and Gibson (Gibby), who often crash tele-therapy sessions and online trainings with their love and strong opinions. They are constantly seeking new sources of knowledge and growth and are committed to life-long anti-racism work.

Fitz received their Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan in 2013 and became an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist in 2019. They were honored to be asked to contribute to Lucie Fielding’s Trans Sex: Clinical Approaches to Trans Sexualities and Erotic Embodiments and are the owner of Odyssey Sexual Health, PLLC. [S. M.
